WHO ARE WE FOR?

Penrith Chess Club is for anyone interested in playing chess. If you are just starting to play, come and learn. If you are an occasional player, come and play a few friendly games and see if you would like to become a regular. If you are already a competitive player, then come soon - our teams need you!

CLUB EVENINGS

We meet on Thursday evenings. The club is busiest during the league season, from September to April, but we are open throughout the year. (Click for details of where and when.)

The club has fifteen or so members and on any one evening about six or eight are likely to be there. Some of us may use the sessions to play social games or games for the club championship. Others may be discussing games played in recent club matches.

From time to time we have special blitz competitions - all moves to be played in 10 minutes per player per game. This is both exhausting and entertaining, and can produce some remarkable games.

EQUIPMENT

The club supplies all the necessary pieces, boards and clocks

CLUB MATCHES

Penrith Chess Club is an active member of the Cumbria chess league. In 2007-08 we had two teams in Division 1 North and one team in Division 2. The A team came second in the division. In 2006-07 we won both the northern divisions. Click on Matches for a list of fixtures and results.
